Well, I don't know about you, but I think it's time for another blog with more videos of Misty! That's right, more videos.

The first video is of me playing with Misty on the stairs. I'm so happy that we live in the townhouse some of the time, especially when playing with Misty. She goes absolutely insane when I take any of her toys into the stairwell and let her chase it around.

One side note about this video, you also get a sneak peak of our new scooter helmets!! More to come on those later.

The second video is from this morning. We've been trying to catch Misty sitting on one of our bar stools. She does the cutest thing, you get her excited, she rolls over, and she falls off. So far, I've missed her doing it while holding the camera at least 3 times in the last day or so. But I sort of got it this time!

Most of the meowing you hear is actually coming from Shianne ;-)

Cheers

The Amazing Standing Kitty

It seems it's time for another blog about our little bundle of joy, Misty. Surprised? Don't be, we spend a tonne of time pampering and playing with her, might as well write about her as well.

In case you didn't know, Misty is a special breed of cat, called a Munchkin (check out Munchin Breed Profile or Munchkins.com). One of the reasons that we decided on getting a Munchkin is a rather unique ability/skill that they have. They can stand. It's adorable.

This first video is of me feeding Misty and getting her to stand. We've decided that when we feed her the BARF Diet, it would be fun to hand feed her and use this as a time to help her learn to stand. The eventual goal is for us to teach her to stand on command.

Here is another one with Shianne doing basically the same thing the next day.

So far, not much luck getting her to stand on command, but when you mix in a little food she's all for it. A little bribery goes a long way.

Happy Mother's Day to My Mom, Jeanie

It's the Mother's Day 2008, and I just want to say "Wish you a happy Mother's Day!" to my mom, Jeanie. Here are some picture her since her teenage years. Isn't she cute?

Then, we came.... me, my sister, and my brother.

Now, at the age of (beep beep), she is still energetic and beautiful.

:) Happy Mother's Day, mom~

New Cat Tree... bigger is better!

We purchased this cat tree from DealsDirect.com.au. It's around $80 including shipping. It's a pretty good price for a cat tree this size. The package is delivered to our door in 2 days. No missing parts, easy to assemble. We highly recommend this online store.

M,"What's in this?"

M,"A gift for me??"

M,"Oh boy, it's better than Christmas!"

M,"let me help you to open it!"

M,"1 box - check, 5 poles - check, platforms - check, and screws... "

M,"OK, you just take this pole and put it right there... "

M,"The foundation is always the most important part. Let me double check the structure integrity..."

M," Careful now, put it down gently..."

M," Let me try reaching up at this angle... what? I'm not playing, just testing!"

M," Oh, you did a good job." kiss kiss...

M,"What? there is more!? awesome~"

M," get it together already! I can't wait any longer!"

M,"Oh Yes~~ It's ALL MINE~~~"

Misty misses her mommy

We received a letter from Misty's breeder. Misty noticed the letter from home...

Misty, "Oh, this package smells like mommy!"

Misty, "Let me open it up~"

Misty, "What's in there?"

Misty, "Oh, mommy wrote to me. I miss you, too!!"

Misty, "I miss my mommy..meow meow...".
Scott, "Oh~ It's OK. You have us now..."
cuddle cuddle....

Meet The Parent!

First off, I'd just like to say that I had almost nothing to do with the creation of the following video, this is Shiannes' baby. I think the extent of my participation was taking and being in some of the photos that are used in it. Way to go Scott!

Shianne put this video together with Windows Movie Maker, which as it turns out, kinda sucks and crashes a lot. There might have been a bit of swearing and hitting of my laptop (it doesn't work on Shiannes') involved today.

And now... what's it all about? Well, it's basically a photo montage of my mom's time here with us in Brisbane. I don't think I need to say much more, what with pictures saying 1000 words and all.

On a side note, if anyone knows of a more reliable (and preferably free) video editor, I'd love to get an email about it.

Cheers!

When kitten meets Godzilla

We tried to introduce Fred to Misty. The situation is under partial control that Misty is restrained on her harness. We actually preferred that Fred is harnessed instead since he is the wild one.

The process of the encounter was filled with tension. We didn't know if Fred would flip out, scratch, and bite at the next second. We didn't know if Misty would suddenly flip out, run, and choke herself with the harness. So, we decided this is the only time we ever do this between them.

However, it's still very interesting to see the curious Misty sniff around Fred. check it out~

The Peer Pressure Post

Wow, I can't believe I'm doing it. I'm actually going to contribute something to the blog. This surprises me a bit, as I've been dodging this quite successfully for the past couple of months. However, a few words of peer pressure from the lovely Shianne, and here I am saying hello to any and all that might read this.

As you'll see if you take the time to read anything I might post, Shianne and I write a fair bit differently. She will tell you about things she made or experiences we've had, while I'm more likely to ramble on for a few minutes about anything on mind mind and then be done. I think it strikes a good balance.

For those that don't know me, I guess an introduction is in order.

This is me in all my glory. And of course Shianne, in all of hers. She wanted me to put up a picture of myself in a tux, so there it is. As for what is going on in the picture, and where we are... well if you don't know, then guessing will have to do for now. I'm not going to explain.

So now that you know what I look like, in case you need to hunt me down, let me give you some info on where to find me.

Australia. I love it here.

I think that's enough of an introduction for now, except to say that there will be more to come. I'm sure I'll have something to say about events of the past few months, events coming up, the joy we're having playing with our new kitty Misty, and anything else that sticks out.

Cheers

DIY BARF Cat Food

I mentioned in the post BARF diet that I want to make my own raw meat mix to feed to Misty. The actual implementation was modified to better fit the reality.

Instead of following a complicated feeding schedule, we decided to put out a small bowl of dry food for her 24/7, and feed a cube of raw food every other night. We also feed commercial wet food (Science Diet, Kitten Real Chicken Dinner) and raw chicken neck alternately in between the nights.

The response from Misty has been great! She loves all the tasty raw food for dinner, and still enjoys the dry food during the day.

So, the first batch of raw food I prepared for her contains the following:
- one peeled banana mushed
- half an apple, grated
- half a carrot, grated
- 3/4 cup finely diced broccoli
- half a yam, baked and mushed
- 2 hard boiled eggs, mushed
- 130g white fish, boiled and mushed
- 250g lean beef mince
- 500g roo mince
- 100g organic yogurt
- 100g cheddar cheese grated

All the ingredients are prepared and added to a big metal bowl for mixing.

After everything is well mixed in, mixture is cubed in ice trays.

Leave the tray in freezer for half a day, then pop them out. Store them in a well sealed box.

Before feeding, leave the frozen cube in the fridge for an hour to defrost... then, leave out for 10-15 minutes to warm up to room temperature.

Then~ watch Misty chewing it down in the blink of an eye! ....
[Update] We just timed it... she wolves down one cube in about 1 min and 20 seconds.... :D

So, the ingredients used add up to about $10. There was enough to make a total of 84 meat cubes. In average, each cube is only about 12 cents. It's way cheaper than canned wet food, plus it's made of real and solid ingredients plus Love!!!

Success!! ^___^v
